Karamchand was the popular detective TV serial in the 1980s. It was broadcast on India's national television channel DD National, and it was one of India's first detective series [1].. Pankaj Kapur gave one of his best performance as Karamchand. Pankaj Kapur portrayed the inimitable carrot chewing detective with elan. The role of his assistant Kitty was played by Sushmita Mukherjee.
Sony Entertainment Television revived this serial again in February 2007. Pankaj Kapur reprises his role as Karamchand while Kitty is played by Sucheta Khanna. The second version of the program aired on Saturdays at 9:00 PM.
