Karak (also Kerak) (Arabic: الكرك) is one of the governorates of Jordan, located south-west of Amman, Jordan's capital. Its capital is Al Karak.

After the creation of the administrative governorates system in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Kerak Became a governorate on June 16th, 1966 with Waheeb Al-Bitar as its first governor.
Karak is divided into 7 nahias:
- Ayy
- Faqqu
- Al-Karak
- Al-Mazar al-Janubiyya
- Al-Mazra'a
- Al-Qasr
- Al-Safi

The population of the Karak governorate was estimated at 211,000 (2004), i.e. 4% of the population of Jordan. With 60% of its population are under the ageof 24. [2]
