Kara Osman was a 19th century Turkish oilwrestler. Osman and two other Turkish wrestlers, Hassan Nurullah and Youssuf Ishmaelo, were brought to the West in 1894 by French wrestler Joseph Doublier. A story that Doublier went to Turkey to find someone capable of defeating his "hated rival" Fernand Sabès, was circulated and widely believed at the time, though some scholars doubt it's veracity and see it as a simple business transaction played up for hype, much in the same manner of the rivalries of the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in the United States today.
