Talk:Kappa Sigma Philippines
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] Language copied from website
The current first sentence is copied directly from http://www.kappasigmafraternity.net/ (flash menu: "What We Are"|"The Fraternity"):
Kappa Sigma Philippines is a fraternity of free-thinking men committed to the principle of individual empowerment and objective free thought.
I changed it to the following, which clearly states what this organization is:
Kappa Sigma Philippines is a student fraternity based in The Philippines.
Someone felt a need to change this back to the first version.
The first version is potentially WP:COPYVIO, and does not clearly state what this organization is, instead emphasizing that it is a thing of lofty ideals. The general tone of boosterism is a problem in this article, but especially so in the lead section because readers unfamiliar with the subject should be able to read immediately what kind of organization this is.
For this reason I am restoring the lede I added, and putting the previous one in quotes. I'm not insisting this is the best way to write this—it is still rather short for instance—but it is much better than the vague version that was here before. One thing I am certain of: duplicating an organization's website into Wikipedia is neither desireable nor allowed. / edg ☺ ☭ 11:48, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
