Kapuzinerplanken

Kapuzinerplanken is a part of the street Kunststrasse in the City of Mannheim in Germany, Europe. It is used only by pedestrians and the so called Strassenbahn, a tram. It is Mannheims main shopping destination together with the Breite Strasse, which connects to the Planken. The Kapuzinerplankena place in the city center of Mannheim, between the squares is O5/O6 and N5/N6, in the area of the squares O5 and O6, not to confound with the directly bordering „Kapuzinerplatz “in N4. Name giver was with both the Kapuzinerkloster, which was from 1701 to 1839/1840 in the squares N5 and N6.
The Kapuzinerplanken runs parallel to the large planks, the part of the Mannheimer pedestrian precinct, which from the water tower to the parade place leads.
On the place stands a statue Blumepeter, a Mannheimer of original.

From 1701 to 1839/40 there had been a monastery, a Kapuzinerkloster in the squares of N5 and N6. Until 1989 the area was used for car parks, today it is an open place again.

The Shopping outlets attract people from a big area, going as far as Bruchsal in the south, Kasierslautern in the west, Darmstadt in the north and Heilbronn in the east. Together with Breite Strasse this is the biggest shopping place in the area.
