Kapchorwa is a district in eastern Uganda. It shares borders with the districts of Mbale in the west and south, Nakapiripirit in the north and the Republic of Kenya in the east and south. It covers an area of 1,738 km2.

Under the colonial administration, Kapchorwa was Sebei County, located in North Bugisu in the now defunct Bukedi District. Kapchorwa was granted district status on February 1 1962, shortly before Uganda became an independent nation.

Kapchorwa is home to most of the kalagens people the casins the pokot and the nandes who are brothers the were mainly cattal keeprs in the late 1986 but a change was sine when the neiboughs the karamojons raided most of there cattal this brought in about a change that helped people to see that a cow alon was of no importance to add more.
