[edit] 2007
You might have noticed your removal of Wrestlemania from 2007 was reverted... There's an ongoing discussion about its notability at Talk:2007, if you want to get involved. Erath 17:35, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] WP:AWB Approval
Regretably, I have denied your application for AWB. You don't have 500 mainspace edits. Feel free to apply again later. Regards, alphaChimp(talk) 16:15, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] WP:AIV Report
Hey, the IP you just reported on AIV, 88.112.8.223 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · block user · block log) does not appear to have any recent blocks, vandalism, or warnings. I've removed your report, but am I missing something? Thanks. alphaChimp(talk) 17:32, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
- No, I clicked wrong a few times, apologies for the trouble. - Kaobear 17:34, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

- Ah, ok. I've checked some of your VP contribs, and wanted to make a suggestion: You might want to use some of the warning rollback buttons. Admins check for warnings before issuing a block. alphaChimp(talk) 17:39, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] CS Lewis edits
Hi Kaobear, thanks for your recent contribution the CS Lewis article. I'm just letting you know for future reference, that as per WP:CONTEXT, "dates when they contain a day, month, and year — 25 March 2004 — or day and month — February 10 — should be linked for date preference formatting." Accordingly, I have put the links back into the article.
Thanks again, and I hope you'll contribute some more to the article. Martin 15:08, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Collaboration
I am delighted that you contacted me about collaborating on WP:Me, and I would very much enjoy working with you. Only recently have I become interested in really getting active on Wikipedia, and I'm kind of poking away at things on WP:Me and elsewhere, still trying to find my niche. I share your interest in grammar and tense as well as IU/OOU, and I'm actively following the discussion at Talk:The_Lord_of_the_Rings#In_universe_style. As far as what to work on, maybe we can pick a smaller article than Lord of the Rings, and target IU/OOU balance. I had some discussions about this with Mirlen here, and her opinions and feedback may prove valuable in what we do as well. Perhaps the Faramir article is a good place for us to start?. I tagged it with {{cleanup fiction-as-fact}} a few days ago, and it's on the project's list of articles we want to get to FA status. Or, if you have a different idea of where to start, I'm happy to follow your lead and/or play it by ear. FYI, I'd put my available time to work on the project at around 5-10 hours / week, and my general level of Tolkien expertise at around 6 out of 10 (where Christopher Tolkien is around 9.95). JordanSamuels 14:54, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
- Cool, let's go for Faramir. Given your higher level of expertise and number of hours to devote, I encourage you to seek your best pace. If I can't keep up, maybe we can enlist others as well. Let's see how it goes. (Btw -- Christopher is really only a 5? :-) ). JordanSamuels 16:15, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
- Hahaha I think you misunderstood me and then I misunderstood you about Christopher. What I meant originally is that on a scale of 1 to 10 about knowledge of Tolkien's works, his son is probably about the most knowledgeable, rating a 9.95. I think you took it to mean that I know a lot more about Christopher than I do about Tolkien. Anyway, I certainly don't expect you to have a deep knowledge about Christopher. :-) Also, the Faramir changes look like a good start. I think we might want to take it a lot further eventually but small steps are good. JordanSamuels 23:39, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
- I think your changes to Faramir are fine so far. I started thinking that the intro needs work, and since it informs the rest of the article I did some fleshing out. It was exhausting both because I wanted to refer to other, more complete intros for reference (Denethor and Aragorn in particular), and also because WP is dog slow for some reason right now. I'm keen to know your thoughts on my approach, and whether or not you think it sounds a bit too much like critical analysis (which it shouldn't!). The more we work on this, the more I'm convinced that (a) it's a big task, and (b) it's going to be really great when we are finished. By the way, there is very little on the pool at Henneth Annun (in particular, Faramir asking Frodo if he should shoot Gollum is really not mentioned at all!) -- should we put something in? JordanSamuels 04:17, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your words of encouragement, they strengthen my resolve. I got sidetracked from the pool by Concept and creation section, and I reworded it a bit. If you get to the pool or anything else, that's great; if not I'll try to find some time to work on it. JordanSamuels 02:45, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
- I think your changes add a lot of insight. I may be inclined to convert passive voice to active in a few spots and add commas where I think they are needed, but nothing really big. I'll wait on doing this as I'm at work -- go ahead and edit more and maybe I'll do these tweaks tonight. JordanSamuels 16:36, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
- I went ahead and just tweaked some wording, but I didn't have a lot of time to do much else. I think when I get some more time I want to start in on the IU/OOU balance -- what do you think? JordanSamuels 15:07, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Headings for character articles
I just had an idea. What if the subheadings under Appearances were Literature and Adaptations...BUT, there was a template after the Literature section that said something like, The following information is canon, [insert more text here]... — something like {{Mecanon}} in terms of wording, but less wordier and more concise. (In terms of graphic, I was planning for it to follow the spoiler template.) What do you think? —Mirlen 01:38, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
- What do you think of {{ME-canonstart}}? —Mirlen 20:18, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
- No, definately shouldn't use the template on every page. Probably whenever there's a character article (or any other fictional related material) in which that character is in an adaptation of some sort. For example, Maedhros doesn't need the subheadings Literature and Adaptations nor the templates because there hasn't been another version in which he is portrayed. The restrictions sound reasonable, right?
-
- And Faramir...that article was my pet project back then when I didn't like writing in OOU-perspective for fictional articles. I think the wikivaction woke me up and made me see the facts. :) Anyway, I've been keeping tabs on the Faramir article and what you guys are doing seems to be doing fine. I'll get around to the Characteristics section (backed up with sources of course) sometime, but first I need to concentrate on Maedhros — though I'm currently drawing blanks on inspiration. (It'd be great to see Faramir an FA article! I'm working Maedhros up to GA, but if I get ayes from my fellow WP:Me members, I'd like to get it up to FA. So any criticisms, ideas, etc. are also welcomed for Maedhros as well. ^^) —Mirlen 20:59, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Less active recently, trying to find time
Hey I just wanted to touch base with you. I realize it's been a few days since I did any project work -- I've had a lot of work and other stuff going on. I don't know when I'll get back to a better pattern but I am thinking about things and I do plan to try to make time for it. JordanSamuels 21:56, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
