Kanye is a town located in southern Botswana. It is the administrative center of the Southern District. It is the capital of the Bangwaketse tribe whose chief is Kgosi Seepapitso IV. Kanye is the original village for Bangwaketse, which is one of the biggest tribes in Botswana. It is located in the mountainous region of Southern Botswana. It is bordered by Moshupa, Lobatse, Jwaneng and is 45 minutes drive from Gaborone, which is the capital city of Botswana. Some of the famous names from Kanye include the former president Ketumile Masire, kgosi Bathoen, to name but a few.
