Kansas Turnpike Authority
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Kansas Turnpike Authority (KTA) is the organization that owns and maintains the Kansas Turnpike. The Kansas Turnpike Authority is part of the Kansas state government.[1]
KTA is headed by a board of five members, two of which are appointed by the governor of the state. In addition, the Chairman of the Kansas Senate Transportation and Utilities Committee as well as a member of the House Transportation Committee (appointed by the Speaker of the state House of Representatives) also serve on the board. The current secretary of the Kansas Department of Transportation is the fifth member of the board.[2]
One board member is elected as the chairman of the board by the other four members. The current chairman is Mary E. Turkington, who previously served as Executive Director of the Kansas Motor Carriers Association.
