Kansas City Irish Fest celebrates Celtic pride in Kansas City by bringing the soul of Ireland to the heart of America. The festival is dedicated to promoting the culture, music, character and history of Ireland and of the Irish people who call Kansas City home. Voted by visitors as the best festival in Kansas City[1], Irish Fest features a giant children's area and a world-class line-up of dancers, artisians, story tellers and more than two dozen musicians on five stages.
Located in the heart of Kansas City at Crown Center Square, KCIF hosted more than 85,000 people in 2007, and is widely regarded as one of the fastest growing Irish festivals in America.
The festival's 2007 line up included the Elders, Saw Doctors, Solas, the Young Dubliners, Gaelic Storm, Different Drums of Ireland, the Prodigals, Eddie Delahunt & Friends, the Fuchsia Band, the O’Riada Dancers, Ellis Island, Searson, Cumasc, Flannigan’s Right Hook, Rowan, John Spillane and Beoga.
The festival was born from the merger of two successful smaller Kansas City neighborhood events, the Brookside and Westport Irish fests. KCIF is almost 100 percent volunteer staffed, and utilizes the help of nearly 1,500 volunteers annually. 2008 marks Kansas City Irish Fest's sixth year.
