Kanoya (鹿屋市 Kanoya-shi?) is a city located in Kagoshima, Japan.
On January 1, 2006, the towns of Aira and Kushira from Kimotsuki District and the town of Kihoku from Soo District merged into the city. As of this merger and population statistics (April 2008), the city has an estimated population of 104,359 and a density of 233 persons per km². The total area is 448.33 km².
The city was founded on May 27, 1941.
