As of 2001 India census[2], Kannod had a population of 15,165. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Kannod has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 72%, and female literacy is 53%. In Kannod, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.Kannod is famous for Kheoni Wild Life Sanctuary. Now for better management of this sanctuary, a 10 year management plan of 2007-08 to 2016-17 is preparing by great forester Shri Rakesh Saxena.
