Kanji is a village in the Kargil district of the Ladakh region of the Jammu and Kashmir state of India. The village has 20 families who farm the immediate area, and can be accessed through the village of Heniskot which lies on the Srinagar-Kargil-Leh highway. The village is situated on an altitude of 3875 m, and is a campsite on the Kanji la and Shilakong gorge treks.

There is another village called Kanji in the Tamil Nadu state of India, some 23 km north-west of the temple town of Tiruvannamalai. An English medium school, a craft centre and a children's home are supported by foreign charities including the British charity The Kanji Project.
