As per records Kanigiri is ruled by Katam Raju king . There are some historical manuments on the hill. These includes a fort, wells at lodurgam and chennamukkabai, which is a well with seven wells depth constructed by katam raju. There is only a path which we can reach lodurgam by walk. The surroundings and place is so beautiful and historical place. Sivalayam also constructed by the king katam raju on kanigiri hill.

Kanigiri is near to coastal. For most of the year, the weather is hot .
Kanigiri people depends earlier on monsoon rains for Drinking water. But now Nagarjuna Sagar water reaching the people through a plant constructed near to Doruvu .
Kanigiri was neglected by governments for development. Kanigiri MLA Erigineni Tirupathi Naidu is the person who never spoke in the assembly- the people house of Andhra Pradesh

Since there is no railway line in Kanigiri, but Kanigir is well connected by road to all other majour and small cities in Andhra Pradesh as well as other state capitals like Chennai and Banglore. Generally people use APSRTC buses for transportation. Currently only one private bus operator 'Raja Travels' is operating a bus to Hyderbad. If you want to travel by train, the nearest railway station is Singarayakonda is about 65 km and Ongole is also nearest railway station about 75 km. It is better to choose Ongole station, because of many express Trains having stop in Ongole. Nearest airport is Vijayawada airport about 200km Chennai airport about 350 km.
