Kanekal is a village and a mandal in Anantapur district in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. [1]

Kanekal is the nearest place to bellary district at a distance of 45 KM and 94 KM from the district head quarters.Bellary is well known for its business in karnataka.kanekal is famous for its storage tank called Chikkaneswara cheruvu.Kanekal is also famous for the temple called Chikkaneswara temple,god siva temple.The highest paddy growing mandal in ananthapur district.Kanekal is called as Rice bowl of ananthapur"Ananthapur Anapurna". Kanekal is having links to places like kalyanadurg,rayadurg,guntakal and bellary. Kanekal is under threat of desertification, due to deforestation,over agriculture, over grazing etc.,and also lack of awareness on environment, the other reasons are migration of people to Urban areas from Kanekal and near by, so people should concentrate and should contribute more in all aspects to develop the kanekal and save the place from desertification.
