Kanakapura (also spelled as Kanakpura, Kannakapura or Kannakpura) Road[1] is a Karnataka State Highway (SH86) and a National one (NH209), which connects Bangalore city to Kanakapura town. Kanakapura is a Taluk[2] in Bangalore (Rural) District.
This road is now a bustling suburb of Bangalore.
The main junctions and traffic hot spots on this road are at Outer Ring Road (Familymart Junction[3]), Konankunte Cross and Peripheral Road (Nandi Infrastructure Corridor a.k.a NICE[4] or BMIC).
Familymart is shut currently for renovation and a new Family Mall (with multiplex) would be ready by early 2009 [5].
Sri Sri Ravishankar's Art of Living[6] International Centre (ashram) is situated on this road at 21st KM milestone.
The road is dotted with large industrial units like Khoday's Breweries[7] and is home to German retail giant METRO's wholesale outlet[8].
The adjoining area of this road is fast changing into a concrete jungle, as many real estate developers are building residential projects.
Most prominent residential projects (apartments[9] or Condominiums[10]) include GR Residency, Shravanti Paradise, Adarsh Nivas, HM Tambourine, Gopalan’s Temple Trees, Gopalan Jewels[11], Mantri Tranquil, Purva Belmont and Purva Highlands.
There are many good schools on this road like Delhi Public School[12], Alpine Public School, Sri Kumaran Children's Home English Nursery and Primary School, Jain International, The Valley school[13], Jyothi Kendria Vidyalaya.
Not many good restaurants exist on this road. Couple of them worth mentioning here are Vindu [14], Pizza Hut, Domino's and Tamarind Tree [15].
This road also hosts the Spencer's retail outlet, Scindia Swimming school, Trident Hyundai Service Center, Cauvery Ford Service Center.
