Kamsarakan dynasty

The rule of the Kamsarakan dynasty was a Armenian dynasty. [1] The dynasty lasted until the Arab invasion, when the gifted creative force of the Bagratid dynasty, or Bagratuni as Armenian historians call them, first dawned on the arena of Armenian history. The remarkably energetic representatives of this large clan, based in Bagaran and Kars, were able to reconcile and unite the dispersed Armenian princedoms. The Bagratids gradually increased their lands, either by force or by purchase. One of the regions which they purchased in the second half of the 8th Century from the Kamsarakan family was the site of the fortress of Ani.
