Kamokuiki (1795 - 1840) was grandmother of David Kalakaua and Liliuokalani of the House of Kalakaua.
She was born 1795 and she married the chief Alapai-maloiki with whom she had a daughter named Kekahili. She remarried to High Chief Kamanawa II and she had Caesar Kapaakea with him. From her daughter marriage to Jonah Piikoi and their son David Piikoi's marriage to Victoria Kekaulike, the House of Kawananakoa came into being. From her son Kapaakea's marriage to Keohokalole the House of Kalakaua was founded.[1]
She divorced her husband Kamanawa in 1840. He decided poison her to either remarry or to cover up his crime of adultery. She died at Honolulu, Oahu, September 27, 1840. His husband and the accomplice Lonoapuakau was hanged in gallows of Honolulu Fort, one month after. This incident, in the Kalakaua Family history, left a mark on her son Kapaakea and his son Kalakaua also bringing down the family's royal descent. [2]
