[edit] Overview

The game features five different modes of play and a special cut-scene viewer option. Another interesting feature located within the game is the opening sequence. There is a unique opening sequence for every single Rider within the game, each having a different twist involving the Rider in question (each Rider uses his respective finisher; Kabuto, Dark Kabuto, Gatack, TheBee, Drake, and Sasword all Cast Off while the movie Riders and the Hoppers just dismount from their Machine Zectrons; Dark Kabuto rides a black repaint of the Kabuto Extender). However, some things remain the same, such as Kabuto's henshin and the use of his bike.

[edit] Story Mode

The first mode of play, story mode offers the player a chance to experience a modified version of the T.V. series storyline. There are twists involved, but obvious plot lines are used from the series. There are three separate ways to play story mode, each involving various stages each.

[edit] Kabuto's Path

The first path to choose in story mode is Kabuto's path. This path involves playing through twelve missions as Kabuto, fighting almost every character that he has fought during the series. This path has obvious references to both the T.V. Series and the movie, GOD SPEED LOVE. During the first portion, Kabuto's battles are based purely on the T.V. Series. After defeating Scorpioworm, the story enters the God Speed Love stages, which involve Kabuto fighting against and with the movie-only Riders. The remaining portion involves Kabuto fighting Ucaworm and Dark Kabuto, both who serve as "bosses" to the game. On an interesting side note, Kabuto is able to access Hyper Kabuto during these last battles.

[edit] Rider's Path

After completing Kabuto's Path, the Rider's Path is unlocked, which involves playing as every Rider once or twice and completing a battle that is exclusive to him. The battles within this mode are greatly influenced by the T.V. Series and movie. For instance, when playing as Caucasus, the player fights both Kabuto and Gatack, a reference to the final space station battle. Dark Kabuto's fight is the exact opposite of Kabuto's last battle, as their positions are reversed, and the player is required to use Dark Kabuto to defeat Hyper Kabuto.

[edit] Worm's Path

The final path within story mode is the Worm's Path, which is unlocked after completing the Rider's Path. A complete opposite to the Rider's Path, this path involves playing as all the Worms fighting the Riders. This mode revisits all the battles in the previous modes, with the player's role being reversed.

[edit] EX Stages

If a player is able to complete either Kabuto's, Rider's, or the Worm's path without being defeated, EX Stages are playable. Only one chance is available to complete these stages, and they are in a much higher difficulty.

During Kabuto's Path, the EX Stage is Stage 13, and it involves a battle between Hyper Kabuto and Kabuto with the player being Kabuto.

During the Rider's Path, the EX Stages are Stage 11 and Stage 12. During Stage 11, the player takes on Hyper Kabuto as Hyper Gatack. If this stage is completed, Stage 12 involves the player Kagami TheBee fighting a group of Worms.

During the Worm's Path, the EX Stage is Stage 8, and it involves a battle between Ucaworm and Hyper Kabuto.

[edit] Two-Player Stage Battle Mode

Similar to story mode, this mode involves the player selecting up to two characters to fight against the computer. Unlike story mode, this mode allows the player to select from every single Rider and Worm. Using a best two-out-of-three method, the player has to play through five stages of battle. The second character can either be controlled by the CPU or another player. However, the player can also play alone, resulting in two on one fights.

[edit] Versus Modes

The game also features two different styles of versus modes, each involving the participation of a second player.

[edit] Versus CPU Mode

Versus CPU Mode allows you to select a character and fight alongside another player or the computer. The CPU's characters are also determined by the player. The battle system is similar to Two-Player Story Mode, involving a best two-out-of-three system.

[edit] Versus Player Mode

Similar to Versus CPU Mode, Versus Player Mode allows you to fight another player through a best two-out-of-three system. Each player is also allowed a CPU support partner.

[edit] Survival

The final mode of game play, Survival Mode, involves the player choosing one of the ten base Riders and pitting them against one hundred computer controlled opponents. The enemies come in waves of eight or nine Pupaworm, followed by a boss(s) which is an evolved Worm. The player is able to regain health and charge the clock up meter by collecting the food items that Worms drop. Tropical Ramen is the only negative item, as it reduces your Clock Up meter by half. Although almost every boss is a Worm, the final boss appears in the form of Dark Kabuto, a Rider.

However, when playing as Dark Kabuto, the situation is reversed. Enemies of Shadow ZECT Troopers come in waves of eight or nine, followed by a Rider boss(s). The final boss appears in the form of Hyper Kabuto.

[edit] Two-Player Survival

Similar to one player, this mode involves two human players that continuously fight waves of enemies until they die. There is no one hundred enemy limit, and all characters are involved. Enemies in the form of ZECT Troopers and Pupaworm come in waves of eight or nine, followed by two Rider or Worm bosses.
