Kamejiro Senaga

Kamejiro Senaga (瀬長亀次郎 Senaga Kamejirō?) (June 10, 1907-October 5, 2001) was a Ryukyuan politician of the 20th century, who was a Communist. He was a mayor in Okinawa and a prominent political figure during the American occupation of Japan. Senaga was an outspoken critic of the "American oppression" of Okinawa, and was imprisoned by American military authorities for sheltering Communists. Later, he served as a member of Japanese diet, in the House of Representatives, before retiring from politics in 1990.
