[edit] History

After World War II and the Greek Civil War, much of its buildings were rebuilt. Electricity and automobiles were introduced in the 1960s, television and radio in the 1970s and pavement in the 1980s. On Saturday August 25 and Sunday August 26, 2007, an enormous forest fire consumed many forests and bushes to the area and several farmlands but much of them were safe from that danger. Firefighters along with its villagers, choppers and planes put out the fire and took days. The fire arrived in the morning hours when temperatures were at 42° C and winds were extremely high at 80 to 85 km/h. The fire slowly stopped but advanced into nearby Gefyra and Routsi.
