Welcome to Wikipedia

Hello, Kaliarosa, and welcome to Wikipedia! Wikipedia is one of the world's fastest growing internet sites. We aim to build the biggest and most comprehensive encyclopaedia in the world. To date we have over four million articles in a host of languages. The English language Wikipedia alone has over one million articles! But we still need more! Please feel free to contribute your knowledge and expertise to our site.

What would you like help with? If you have an improvement for an article, just click the 'edit' button and add it! Expect others to edit it, change it, improve it, or adapt it, because that's what Wikipedia is all about. If you're not sure whether your edit is appropriate or not, ask first on the article's talk page (found by clicking on 'discussion' at the top of that page). If you think people could disagree with your edit, provide a source or a reference to show where you got the information from. Don't hesitate to ask me here or at my talk page if you want any specific answers. Welcome to the encyclopedia, I hope you have fun! Ziggurat 01:01, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

No problem! It can be intimidating at first, and really the website is so large that no one person can understand everything that's going on. I'd suggest starting with a topic you have some interest in and knowledge of, and make a few small edits to get your feet wet, so to speak. Some people get quite ferocious about defending their 'territory', but for the most part Wikipedians are a friendly bunch and are quite happy to help and make suggestions where necessary.
