Kalkunte is a village about 35 km from Bangalore in Karnataka India. The village has a typical south Indian temple which is centuries old. The temple is graced by Lord Sriranganatha, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu according to Hindu mythology. Lineage from this village are now settled world-wide and are commonly identified by their last name "Kalkunte". The temple is maintained by Kalkunte family owned Kalkunte Temple Trust which is headed by P Narasimhamurty. The Kalkunte also host primary and higher secondary school, for villages around this place. Every year during the months of February & March, there is a colorful Car Festival called Rathosvam. This festival is carnival for 10 days with free food for all the visitors and natives of the village. Kalkunte family, also imparts excellent secondary education with nominal fee structure under Kalkunte Education Trust, which runs S.Cadambi Vidya Kendra in Bangalore.
