Kalininsk

Kalininsk (Russian: Кали́нинск) is a town in Saratov Oblast, Russia, located on the Balanda River (Medveditsa's tributary), 121 km west of Saratov. Population: 18,855 (2002 Census); 19,347 (1989 Census).
It was founded as the village of Balanda (Баланда́). In 1962, it was granted town status and renamed Kalininsk after Mikhail Kalinin, a Bolshevik revolutionary and Soviet politician.
