Kalighat Home for the Dying is a hospice for the poor in Calcutta, India, founded by Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu, also known as Mother Teresa. It was an old abandoned Hindu temple to the goddess Kali, the Hindu goddess of death and destruction, before she sought permission to use it. It was founded by Mother Teresa on her 49th birthday.
