Kalia is located at 23.0333° N 89.6167° E . It has 36388 units of house hold and total area 317.64 km².

As of 1991 Bangladesh census^[1], Kalia has a population of 196747. Males constitute are 50.58% of the population, and females 49.42%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 98275. Kalia has an average literacy rate of 31.9% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. ^[2]
