Following the departure of two band members, Siouxsie & the Banshees regrouped and redirected their sound for Kaleidoscope, their third album. Veering from a punkish, more guitar-oriented sound, the Banshees (reduced to a trio) began their experimentation with electronic soundscapes and Middle Eastern exotica. This album also marks the debut of the guitarist John McGeoch from Magazine and the brand new drummer and composer Budgie from The Slits, who would continue to record with the band throughout their remaining history. Polydor Records released this album in the UK in 1980. Kaleidoscope was remastered as a single disc digipack in May, 2006.
