[edit] Politics

Kalakada mandal has always played an important role in the politics of Vayalpad constituency (now Piler constituency)since the beggining. It is a well known fact that the fate of an MLA in this constituency is decided by the people of kalakada mandal. This mandal has given rise to prominent persons like Vangimalla Kalpalatha Reddy from Errakotapalli who was the first lady Samithi President(Equivalent to MLA) who suceeded her late husband V.Srinivasa Reddy who was also an samithi president. After V.Kalpalatha Reddy renounced politics, she passed on the baton to other polital families of the same constituency namely Nallari and Chinthala from Kalikiri and Vayalpad mandals respectively. The entry of V.Venkat kumar Reddy(son of Kalpalatha Reddy) saw the re-emergence of the Vangimalla family into the active political circle. But the re-emergence of kalakada as a political power in the constituency is mainly credited to V.Madhusudhan Reddy(Youngest son of Kalpalatha Reddy)who has served as panchayat president, Zilla Parishad member and Twice as Mandal President, and is still continuing in office as Mandal President.
