Kal Skirata
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kal Skirata is a fictional character in the Star Wars Expanded Universe, appearing in the novel Republic Commando: Triple Zero.
In the novel, he trains six young clone troopers — Ordo, Mereel, Prudii, A'den, Jaing, and Kom'rk — to be highly skilled military commandos. He also trains over one-hundred Republic commandos, including characters Darman, Niner, and Fi. He becomes an important character later on in the book because he is the only person that the commandos will obey. He is a fierce warrior with powerful emotions, and would do anything for his "boys", the clones he has trained.

[edit] Background
He wears gold(signifying a life path for vengeance) beskar'gam, or Mandalorian armor made from Mandalorian iron, called beskar. His weapon of choice is a custom Verpine Shatter Gun and a fifteen-centimeter, three-sided knife he took off his biological father's body. Additionally he carrys a chain whip.
[edit] Arrival at Kamino
When he arrives on the planet Kamino (where the clone warriors were grown), Skirata begins to feel depressed. He feels that it is wrong that the Kaminoans train the clones with live ammunition. He develops a healthy dislike for Kaminoans, and hates doing what he has to do to his boys for their training.
[edit] Null ARCs
While in the office of one of the Kaminoan scientists he is informed that a Null batch of ARC captains will be "reconditioned". Skirata is shocked and disgusted, and asks to see them. They are brought into the office and he is horrified to see that they are children. Skirata and Jango Fett, the clones' template, save the Nulls from the Kaminoans and bring them to Skirata's personal apartment to be trained.
The Nulls become attached to Skirata, especially Captain Ordo.
[edit] Conflict with Walon Vau
Kal Skirata has a feud with Walon Vau, a fellow Mandalorian. Vau's training methods which often included abusing and humiliating clones irritated Skirata. The two also come from vastly different class backgrounds; Vau ran away from his rich family, while Skirata was adopted by a Mandalorian after being orphaned by war.
The largest confrontation between the two men occurs shortly after the Battle of Geonosis. Out of all of the commando squads that Walon Vau trained only one of them loses men that day. The only surviving member, Atin, returns to Kamino grieving over the loss of his brothers. Vau, true to his brutal training, gives Atin an option: He could either fight another of the commandos trained by Vau or he could fight Vau himself. Atin chooses the latter and attacks Vau. Vau, using a sword made of Mandalorian iron, nearly kills him. Atin still carries the scars on his neck and upper body, the most noticeable of which is a long scar running across his face.
When Skirata finds out about what Vau has done, he is so enraged he fights Vau one on one, breaking the much larger man's nose and nearly killing him.

A clone Null Advanced Recon Commando (Jaing) with the surname Skirata is believed to be in existence by the Legacy of the Force Era(Bloodlines). The trooper is sought by bounty hunter Boba Fett in order to help improve the Mandolorian clone's own longevity.
