How come you are vandalising the page? You seem like a very good editor apart from this.--Jackaranga 06:09, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
No harm done, thanks for helping clean up the pages, it is definitely not an easy task on pages like this.--Jackaranga 14:22, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Joe Sakic GA review

Hello Kaiser Matias - Concerning your comment over the succession box thing on my GA review, it's basically putting headings in that section of the article, see Damon Hill's succession boxes as an example of what I mean. Still don't understand? Then just give me a "buzz" and I'll be more then happy to assist. --Phill talk Edits 10:48, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

Diactrics

Just noticed you been changing article titles with diactrics. Consensus was player pages both the titles and contents have diactrics and a redirect without diactrics. And any other pages such as team pages do not. --Djsasso 17:30, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

2005-06 Calgary Flames season

I was just getting some work done on the corresponding Canucks season article by copying the Flames article and noticed something. On the player stats seciton, at the bottom of it is a list called All Traded Players. I just want to clarify what that represents. As I see it, it is the cumalative totals of all the players the Flames traded over the season. Thanks. Kaiser matias 04:40, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, that is what it represents. I've been using the Flames Media Guide as my primary source for the player stats, and it piles all of the departed players together into the All Traded Players category. I may expand that later, but for now felt that was adequate. Resolute 13:28, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Sakic

Man, what an article now! Just wanted to say "great job" on greatly improving Burnaby Joe's article, and I have whole-heartedly supported the featured article vote. Jmlk17 22:44, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Damn those Canucks. You guys have the best goalie in the league now though. Maybe next year the Avs can nab back our rightful division title. I'm just teasing. Good work again though. Jmlk17 06:57, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Your work on ranking articles

The Working Man's Barnstar
Well what can I say, you're doing a great job ranking all the hockey related articles. Every time I check my watchlist I see that you've been contribuing to wikipedia. Krm500 23:41, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

For you work with the ranking... it makes me feel guilty as that is the reason why I joined the Wikiproject... Evilclown93(talk) 01:53, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
I came here just to thank you for all your hard and boring work on assessing the hockey articles. Congratulations, well done. Good job on Super Joe's article. Keep on with your work, thanks. --Serte Talk · Contrib ] 13:17, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Article Improvement

By Maxim

Upon some discussion on the WikiProject talk page, the Article Improvement Drive page was revamped by Krm500 and Maxim. It was renamed Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Article Improvement, and it includes two section. The first section is called articles in dire need of improvement. It list articles, usually important, that are in very poor shape. The second section is called requested help. Users list an article they request help improving a certain article, which will facilitate collaboration, which is the aim of any WikiProject. There is one article currently listed there, Henrik Lundqvist, here. The goal is to at least get it to Good article status.

Diacritics

By Maxim

In the past few weeks, there has been quite heated discussion about the use of diacritics in article name. The current guideline is using diacritics in the pages of articles of all player names which require them, but redirects are exempt.

Task forces

By Maxim
There have been two new task forces started within the WikiProject to coordinate major topics.

Sweden Ice Hockey task force

This task force was initiated by Krm500. Its current goal is to improve Henrik Lundqvist to Good or Featured article status. It covers all Swedish clubs, leagues and competitions and associated articles, players and coaches that are Swedish, or have played/coached for a Swedish club, and arenas in Sweden. They plan to eventually operate as a sort of a sub-project, which will have its own articles for creation, ranking importance and quality of articles, and co-ordinate article improvement. Its current members are Krm500, Bamsefar75, and CLAES.

New Jersey Devils task force

This task force was initiated by Bsroiaadn. Its goal is to improve New Jersey Devils to Featured Topic status. Although it currently meets the required article count, the task force wishes to improve it further. Its area of coverage is very similar to the Sweden Ice Hockey task force. Its members are Bsroiaadn, JHMM13, FutureNJGov, Sportskido8, Michael Greiner, JRWalko, and Soxrock.

Requested Images

By Maxim
After discussion on the WikiProject talk page, Serte created a page for Requested Images. The page encourages users to license images for use on articles. The page also has section to request images for players, arenas, game situations, miscellaneous, and team and league logos. The page has been quite popular; since it was created on July 21, there have been six completed requests. There are four currently outstanding requests:

Article assessement completed

By Maxim
On July 12, Kaiser matias announced that he had completed assessing all the articles with a {{ice hockey}} tag, sorting them into Category:Unassessed Ice Hockey articles. Kaiser matias has ranked about 9000 articles in that category, and most were stubs, and "have no information at all", according to him. Everybody is encouraged to expand the stubs into real articles. This effort took around 5 months. A big thanks goes to Kaiser matias from me and all the project.

Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Featured topic Drive

Hi, as you may or may not know, some of us at WP:HOCKEY have banded together and are trying to get the various NHL Trophy pages to FT status. New recognized content

By Maxim

Especially due to the featured topic drive, there have been many new featured lists promoted concerning NHL awards. Here's the full list of all the 13 FL's promoted since the last newsletter.[1][2]

  1. Featured article Hart Memorial Trophy
  2. Featured article James Norris Memorial Trophy
  3. Featured article Vezina Trophy
  4. Featured article Conn Smythe Trophy
  5. Featured article Frank J. Selke Trophy
  6. Featured article Lady Byng Memorial Trophy
  7. Featured article Lester B. Pearson Award
  8. Featured article Calder Memorial Trophy
  9. Featured article Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy
  10. Featured article King Clancy Memorial Trophy
  11. Featured article Jack Adams Award
  12. Featured article Presidents' Trophy
  13. Featured article List of Calgary Flames players

There have been no new good articles or featured articles. Maurice 'Rocket' Richard Trophy has been given A-Class status due to multiple issues raised at FLC.

  1. ^ The last one, List of Calgary Flames players, is the only one not associated with the featured topic drive.
  2. ^ At the time of publishing, there were 5 lists at WP:FLC and 2 lists in the "Holding cell", as there's been an accepted guideline to not put more that 5 trophy lists at the same time to, "compensate for the sanity of the reviewers".

Did You Know?

By Maxim
There have been 4 new articles featured in the Did You Know section? on the Main Page since August.

...that Wally Tatomir, head equipment manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, holds four patents on ice hockey-related equipment?

...that ice hockey player Mark Major attained 355 penalty minutes during the 1997-98 AHL season for the Portland Pirates, where he averaged 4.5 penalty minutes a game and still holds the club record?

...that Garth Butcher was a member of Canada's first-ever gold medal team at the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships before becoming a pest and setting team records for penalty minutes in the National Hockey League?

..that the AMP NHL Winter Classic is scheduled to be the first regular-season outdoor National Hockey League game in the United States?

Featured Topic Drive

By Maxim

Started by User:Scorpion0422, the aim of this drive is to make NHL awards a featured topic. A featured topic is basically a set of very high quality articles (good articles and featured articles/lists). In this case, the topic is NHL awards. Many users have helped, including Scorpion0422, Resolute, Serte, Hasek is the best, Maxim, Croat Canuck, Spike Wilbury, FutureNJGov, and T Rex/Dinosaur puppy. The progress has been very good; there are 12 featured lists promoted, and 2 good articles:

  1. Featured article Hart Memorial Trophy (Scorpion)
  2. Featured article James Norris Memorial Trophy (Scorpion)
  3. Featured article Vezina Trophy (Scorpion)
  4. Featured article Conn Smythe Trophy (Serte)
  5. Featured article Frank J. Selke Trophy (FutureNJGov)
  6. Featured article Lady Byng Memorial Trophy (Scorpion)
  7. Featured article Lester B. Pearson Award (Scorpion)
  8. Featured article Calder Memorial Trophy (Croat Canuck)
  9. Featured article Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy (Maxim)
  10. Featured article King Clancy Memorial Trophy (Maxim)
  11. Featured article Jack Adams Award (Maxim)
  12. Featured article Presidents' Trophy (Scorpion)
  13. Good article Stanley Cup (Earlier collaboration, very many involved)
  14. Good article Traditions and anecdotes associated with the Stanley Cup (Maxim)

Check the project page if you are interested in helping out. Although it's closer to being done than not, there's still work to be done. The next topic that might be tackled is Stanley Cup, but this remains purely speculative and in discussion.

Colorado Avalanche records

I think the article Colorado Avalanche records should apply only to the tenure in Colorado, and not include Quebec Nordiques records. Otherwise, the leading scorer would of course be Peter Stastny, not Sakic. I will revert your edits for stats which predate Colorado. − Twas Now ( talkcontribse-mail ) 07:12, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Re: a recent revert

Hey, I reverted this recent revert at the list of National Hockey League statistical leaders by country. I know it was with good intention, but the other players on that page repeat a team if they ever returned there (check out Martin Rucinsky under the Czech Republic for an extreme example). − Twas Now ( talkcontribse-mail ) 07:44, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

I was very happy when I saw it, but I didn't have the time to reply to say thanks for the barnstar. And then I didn't remember. So, I thank you very much now. Congratulations on your outstanding work, Joe Sakic is my favorite player and it is great to have a Featured Article of him. I'm looking forward to cooperate with you in more articles in the Wikiproject Ice Hockey. Thanks for the barnstar.--Serte Talk · Contrib ] 13:30, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

List of National Hockey League statistical leaders by country

The poison I'm speaking of (Northern Ireland disputes) on Wikipedia has apparently seeped into my being again. It's best I depart from that discussion - ONIH & Padraig (for example) have never shown interest in hockey articles before, but now they do (only because of Ireland issues). GoodDay (talk) 20:45, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

I encourage to vote in my Final Solution to the Ireland dispute at List of National Hockey League statistical leaders by country Grsz11 (talk) 22:17, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Padraig is claiming 'Northern Ireland' is not a consituent country of the UK? & One Night in Hackney seems to be arguing that Northern Ireland never has been & is not a part of the UK? How are we gonna get those two to leave this hockey article alone? GoodDay (talk) 03:24, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm thinking of calling in RGTraynor (again), along with Krm500, Djsasso & Resolute tommorow. I may be getting paranoid, but I believe the Northern Ireland dispute might spread to the other hockey articles - keeping my fingrs crossed. GoodDay (talk) 03:34, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

If you know how to request arbitration, I think it is time we need it at List of National Hockey League statistical leaders by country. Grsz11 (talk) 03:30, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

List of Lightning players

What, no praise for creating articles for all those who were still red-linked? :)

No, seriously, 'twas nothing. I will take another look at the list when I have a little more time, and I'll let you know what (if anything) I find. Good luck with the FLC! Skudrafan1 (talk) 01:32, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

OK, I went through and edited what few things I could find to change. The only major change I made was changing all occurrences of "Present" to "2008," based on a consensus reached at WT:HOCKEY. I see no reason why this should not pass FLC. Best wishes. Skudrafan1 (talk) 06:29, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Ha, this is why I like to stay out of FACs and FLCs -- I can't take people saying the way we've done things is wrong! Then I just get to arguing and making wild claims and basically saying whatever I feel like and it is not constructive at all. I'll keep my nose out of it from here on out. Let me know if you need help with the list in any way. :) Skudrafan1 (talk) 03:21, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Team Colouring

My rationale for removing the colours on the list is I see the green shades intended more for current players, and current players is so much more controversial, ie)players sent down to the minors, so it has been listed as "Player who have currently played in the 07-08 season" or whatever the wording is. When I look at the lists and I see green players, it symbolizes that the player is currently on the roster or still in the organization.

In my humble opinion, Denis still deserves to have a green link because as far as I know, he's still in the lightning organization, playing in Norfolk, am I correct? And call-ups shouldn't be creating problems so long as they are still in the team's organization as they have a very good chance of being called up again. It's just the organization-to-organization transactions that I have a problem with.

I tend to make more sense in my head rather than what I type, but my main point is I just made these edits because I think the green shades should be current players. Maybe in actuality they are designed for players who've played this season, but it just makes so much more sense to have them as current players currently in the organization. Thricecube (talk) 23:53, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

While I agree with what you are saying, I still think it makes more sense to uncolour players no longer active on the roster. I think it saves confusion later on, and is generally more accurate. Personally, it's no problem for me doing this type of stuff at deadlines. I consider myself a roster demon. Pretty much all my edits have been roster related. But I guess I'll refrain from removing the colours them until the next season.

And by the way, I was just in Crofton the other day. It's a nice, quaint little town. Let's hope the Canucks make the Avalanche regret signing Forsberg! Thricecube (talk) 00:09, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
