From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kaischwartz has been a part of the Wikipedian community since 2006.03.05.17:10. After I understood what Wikipedia is and what it strives for, I was an instant and enthusiastic, but rather passive 'user', i.e. I looked stuff up. Then I became interested in Wikipedia, as an 'editor', for its potential as a tool/medium in teaching translation and opened this account. Since then both my interest and involvement here have grown beyond this: I look stuff up, translate in several directions, edit articles, clean up grammar, vocabulary, etc., and I hope to start a new article soon.

Completely and natively/near-natively fluent in English and German. Moderately, but somewhat rustily, fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Spanish. Some major dabbling with other languages such as Russian, Japanese, French, and Dutch. Some minor dabbling with still others like Czech, Vietnamese, Swahili, ASL, Esparanto, Greek, Hebrew, and Latin. Years of experience learning, teaching, translating and coordinating languages. And, of course, years of struggling with, living in, and loving multicultural contexts. Countries I've lived in: USA, Spain, Germany, and Taiwan. Some countries or places I've been to a few times or for more than just a few weeks AND have liked and/or have learned something important from: China, Hong Kong, Japan, Vietnam, 'Czechoslovakia' (Prague, Czech Republic), 'GDR', Italy, Switzerland, France, England. I was just recently (June 2007) in Istanbul, Turkey. Before I die I would love to go to India and parts of Africa. If there's still time left, I want to see New Zealand, parts of South America, and return to Southeast Asia.

I know I will as I go along) ::: Heart Sutra, Elfriede Jelinek, Queer studies, Kabbalah, 中国, RAF, QAF, Absolutely Fabulous, Utopia, Diamanda Galas, Mars Express, Southern Baptist Convention, Star Trek, Marxism, Quantum mechanics, Linguistics, Sumer, Majiang, Vipassana, Red Tory, Stevia, Zen.

[edit] Userboxes
Userboxes are a bit silly but also a bit fun. I include a few here mostly as a way of learning how to use them - or rather how to use code to make them do what I want them to do.
Here's where I read up on them: Wikipedia:Userboxes
