Kailahun District is a district in the Eastern Province of Sierra Leone. Its capital and largest city is Kailahun. The district of Kailahun borders the Republic of Liberia to the east, Kono District to the north and Kenema District to the west. The total area of the district is 3,859 Km Sq and has a population of 438,259 (2006). The Mende form by far the largest ethnic group in the district. The second largest ethnic group are the Kissi.

The population of Kailahun District in 2004 was 358,190 (2004 census). The ethnic makeup of Kailahun District put the Mende at 67%, the Kissi at 10% and 23% from other ethnic groups.

Kailahun has a mixed economy, made up of small-scale mining as well as agricultural production of coffee, cacao and rice.

Kailahun District currently has eight Representatives in the Sierra Leonean Parliament, of which seven were elected for 5 year team. The district is a stronghold of the opposition Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP). Below is a list of representatives and their affiliations.
