Kaifun (also transliterated Kafun,Kaifoun) is a village in the Mount Lebanon Governorate, Aley District, in the Republic of Lebanon. It lies slightly south of the village of Souk El Gharb
The town has a majority Shia population. During the Israeli-Hezbollah 2006 War its population, swelled by refugees, went from about 3,00 to 50,000 over stretching its water supply and causing a humanitarian crisis.[1]
