[edit] Biography

Of imperial lineage, Wong is an intra-clan (Chinese: 同氏 pinyin: tong shi) descendant of the Yellow Emperor, Huangdi, and a direct descendant of Qinshihuang. Wong's ancestry originates from the Huang clan of Jiangxia Prefecture (Chinese: 江夏 pinyin: jiangxia jyutping: gongha) in Hubei, direct descendants of the founding Emperor of China.

Wong started attending school at two and half and finished schooling at the Victoria Junior College in Singapore, then lived in San Francisco. He had been closely linked to family of painter Jean-Léon Gérôme until 1998. He subsequently enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Institute and then went to the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City. He was an apprentice under Ang Lee[2] and coached by Sean Penn.[3]

Wong later moved to Europe where he trained and performed at the National Conservatory of Dramatic Art of Paris, where he was a year junior with Louis Garrel of Bernardo Bertolucci's The Dreamers. As an actor, he worked under late theatre director Claude Stratz, collaborator of French director Patrice Chereau.[4]

[edit] Career

Wong was discovered in New York City by talent manager and dancer, Jadin Wong. Jadin immediately signed him up after hearing him audition as Marius in "Les Miserables". He started his U.S. film career as her protégé.

Wong started his career in New York sitcoms and then moved to Hollywood. Wong was shortlisted to co-star with Meryl Streep in Dark Matter, a film inspired by true events in the genre of Michael Moore's Bowling for Columbine and Gus Van Sant's Elephant. Wong eventually stalled involvement in the project after the controversy surrounding the Virginia Tech Massacre.
