K-value

In the ELO rating system, the K-value is the votility of the rating.

This means that a win against someone much higher would result in a gain of the K-value, and a loss against someone much lower would result in a loss of the K-value. A win or loss against someone of the same rating would result in a gain or loss, respectively, of half the K-value.
