Kāmoke

Kāmoke is a city of Gujranwala District located in Punjab, Pakistan, it has a population of 167,300[1]. The city is the capital of Kamoke Tehsil which is an administrative subdivision of the district, the city is itself subdivided into 8 Union Councils[2]. The city is located on the Grand Trunk Road 21km towards Gujranwala and 44 km towards Lahore. Kamoke has become a popular city, all the needful things are found in the city.

A KAMOO Jutt Virk established the stone of Kamoke in Emperor Akbar Mughal's Period. The history of Kamoke is about 2000 years old.There are a lot of virk familys who live around Kamoke.Purana Ghanian is the south side of kamoke and also many new ghanians of the east side are of the GT road.In purana Ghanian there is a darbaar Baba Hussan Shah.ALSO a very well known virk family lives in Purana Ghanian.Ch.faqir Muhamad Virk and Ch.Muhamad sharif Virk. Main industry is Basmati Rice which is the famous crop of Kamoke. Kamoke has been an International Market of Rice of Asia for few years ago. Mr Zafar Iqbal Syal was the first President of all Pakistan Rice dealers association, he belonged to this city.

Mr. Muhammad Tariq Aziz is prominent rice businessman of the area and worth-mentioning name of industry. He is key person of Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) and Chief Executive of Falcon Rice Mills (Pvt) Limited (One of top ten basmati rice exporting company of country). He is also advisor to ministry of commerce on trade policy issues.


A famouse name in rice market is Seith Muhammad Hussain. He is owner of Kamoke Rice Mill. Rice trading is his family business.

Also Mr. Masood Khokhar, Seith Muhammad Arshad, Seith Muhammad Akram are having welknown & trustworthy name in rise exporting.

There is another famous product of Kamoke is its famous sweets Barfee that is produced by Sheikh Family for more than four decades.
