Personal Information
- Hello and welcome to Jza84's user page.
- I live in Greater Manchester and my interests are geography, geneaology, politics and the contemporary visual arts.
- I have been contributing to the English language Wikipedia since December 2005 (first as an anon, then under a different username).
- I was granted administrator status on 21 May 2008.
- I mainly contributute to articles related to the WikiProjects I participate with, particularly (but by no means exclusive to) local and national geography.
- A lover of consistency across articles, my personal aims include producing outstanding articles about places and things important to me and my life, and encourage a greater ethos of teamwork at Wikipedia.
- Amongst other things, I'm currently working on getting each place in Greater Manchester and Northern England to have a lead photograph (static image) dipicting the local landscape or a local landmark in the infobox. My favourites so far have included Audenshaw, Barnsley, Hattersley, Ancoats, Dalton-in-Furness, Middleton, Hulme and Bollington.

Peterloo Massacre |
The Peterloo Massacre occurred on 16 August 1819 when cavalry were ordered to charge into a crowd peacefully protesting for parliamentary reform. It resulted in the deaths of 15 and injuries to 600–700 men women and children. The event was largely discounted by the authorities, although it has recently been described as Manchester's Tiananmen Square, and an event in the history of the United Kingdom most in need of a proper memorial. |
I am also very proud of the following:

WikiProject UK Geography |
The United Kingdom Geography WikiProject is dedicated to improving and expanding Wikipedia's coverage of articles related to the Geography of the United Kingdom and is most closely involved with facilitating the development of Britain's settlements and divisions of land; ensuring a consistent approach is taken across the United Kingdom's geography class articles. |

The Defender of the Wiki Barnstar |
"A few hours ago the scurrilous entry was removed, after all it's a sin to lie." Your swift edits were mentioned on BBC North West Tonight (I'm glad they acknowledged that there are good editors here). You certainly deserve this for taking responsibility for the Denshaw article and vastly improving it, showing that wikipedia can work. Nev1 (talk) 21:32, 17 April 2008 (UTC) |
