SUSAN ELIZABETH ROBERTS IS A CORRESPONDENT FOR CBS NEWSPATH, THE AFFILIATE SERVICE OF CBS NEWS. SHE ALSO CONRIBUTES TO THE CBS MORNING NEWS AND THE EARLY SHOW.
TELEVISION CAREER
Most recently Roberts covered the death of former President Gerald Ford. During 2006, she reportered from the Gulf Coast on the three major hurricanes to hit the states: Katrina, Rita and Wilma. For more than six weeks, she reported from New Orleans and has continued with reports on the on going recovery effort. While at CBS NEWS, she has covered the Michael Jackson trial, the Amish shootings, the Sago Mine tragedy and the 10th anniversary of the Oklahoma city bombing.
Prior work experience to CBS NEWS, includes reporting for the Washington bureau of NBC News Channel, MSNBC and NBC News "Early Today". Roberts covered the Sept 11th attacks on the Pentagon and the sniper shootings for WJLA TV-Washington, D.C., where she served as an anchor and reporter. She was the primarily fill in for the main anchors and anchored live coverage of the sniper attacks. While at WJLA, she also reported on the start of the Iraq War from the Mediterranean Sea aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt.
The bulk of her career was spent in New Orleans as a news reporter and anchor for the both the CBS affiliate, WWL-TV and the NBC affiliate. She began her career as a news reporter and anchor at the ABC affiliate, KATV in Little Rock as a morning anchor.
Her reporting on the Sept 11th attacks contributed to a regional EDWARD R. MURROW AWARD for WJLA-TV. She has received several EMMY nominations for spot news and feature news reporting.
PERSONAL LIFE
ROBERTS GRADUATED FROM CENTENARY COLLEGE IN SHREVEPORT, LA. WITH A BACHELOR OF ARTS DEGREE IN ENGLISH AND MINOR IN SPANISH. SHE COMPLETED PART OF HER UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES AT ST. JOHN'S COLLEGE IN OXFORD, ENGLAND. SHE IS THE DAUGHTER OF ALLEN AND CAROLE ROBERTS AND WAS BORN IN GROSSE POINTE, MICHIGAN. HER ANCESTRY CAN BE TRACED TO THE SOUTHERN MOST PART OF ITALY, SICILY.
