Description

The Jvari (Cross) church stands on a spur of the Sagurami hills 150m above Mthskheta, and now seems to grow out of the rock. It's one of the finest examples of old Georgian architecture, a marvellously simple but sophisticated edifice. It was built by Staphoanoz I between AD580 and 604.
