[edit] Disambiguation of the term juvenile

I am working on the disambiguation list for the term juvenile. I hesitate to make any change to the pages referring to the term as a legal definition. There are several pages that make this kind of reference and generally they are referring to to juvenile crime or juvenile delinquency. For this purpose, I don't believe that we have a precise definition. The choices on the disambiguation page for juvenile are child or adolescent. It appears to me that a link to one or the other of these is probably not precise. A child can be a juvenile delinquent but not all children can be a juvenile delinquent. For example, an infant is a child but an infant cannot be a juvenile delinquent. I believe that the actual definition should include both. I think that we probably need a topic that actually provides a legal definition for the term juvenile. IANAL, so, I'm not inclined to tackle the topic.

I was working on the dab list at the same time, but focusing on the easy Juvenile (rapper) links. I've done about 30, and have a few more left to do. I wasn't going to touch the child juvenile for the same reasons as you. It needs some thought. Simon12 02:28, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
It isn't appropriate to simply delink use of juvenile in the sense of "not mature". It's the first meaning on the page. It's a useful link. Guettarda 04:19, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

I'm going to create juvenile (animal) which covers the first definition. That should knock out another 20-30 links. Hopefully some experts can come along and add to it.Simon12 01:36, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

Turns out some of the links refer to plants, not animals. I left those alone, maybe someone can add a juvenile (plant), or expand juvenile (animal) to cover both.Simon12 02:08, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
I moved juvenile (animal) to juvenile (organism) to include the plant links.

I just found the page minor (law) which I think covers all the legal definitions for juvenile. I can create juvenile (law) and redirect to minor (law), and dab/change all the links to juvenile (law); or I can dab/change all the links directly to minor (law. I prefer the first, in case lawyers in the future want a separate entry for juvenile (law). Comments? Simon12 04:11, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

I like your first solution as well. Also, the juvenile (law) link can be added to the juvenile dab page and this will, I hope, be more friendly to others who might need to disambiguate the term in the future.

I agree - good start. Guettarda 11:28, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
