[edit] A landslide victory for The JPS (aka RFA thanks)
Hey, Jusjih/Archives in May 2006, thank you so much for your vote and comments in my RfA, which passed with an overwhelming consensus of 95/2/2. I was very surprised and flattered that the community has entrusted me with these lovely new toys. I ripped open the box and started playing with them as soon as I got them, and I've already had the pleasure of deleting random nonsense/attacks/copyvios tonight. If I ever do anything wrong, or can help in some way, please feel free to drop me a line on my talk page, and I will do my best to correct my mistake, or whatever... Now, to that bottle of wine waiting for me... The JPS talk to me 22:24, 2 May 2006 (UTC) |
[edit] May the Force be with you.
Dear Jusjih/Archives in May 2006,
- Thanks for voting on my RFA! I appreciate your faith in me, and was overwhelmed by the positive response to my RFA; for it shows that at least I'm doing something right. :) I've started working to improve myself already, and I hope that next time, things run better, and maybe, just maybe, one day we can bask on the shores of Admintopia together. Thanks and cheers, _-M o P-_ 21:52, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks for the support on my RfA!
Image:Danavecpurpletiger.jpg | A belated thank you to you for Supporting my RFA! It passed 54/2/3, much better than I expected! I am still finding my feet as an Administrator, and so far I am enjoying the experience. I am honoured that you felt I was ready to take up this position, and wish to thank you formally! I hope I can live up to your expectations of me. Once again, thank you! --Darth Deskana (talk page) 19:12, 4 May 2006 (UTC) |

Hello, Jusjih/Archives in May 2006, and thank you for vote on my recent RfA! With a final vote of 62/2/4, I have now been entrusted with the mop, bucket and keys. As I acclimate myself to my new tools, feel free to let me know how you believe I might be able to use them to help the project. Thanks again! RadioKirk talk to me 05:27, 6 May 2006 (UTC) |

- Also note that Goonmaster's rfa is not linked on the main rfa page, and is likely not to be. That page is semiprotected for this reason (to prevent new users from placing rfas that will clearly fail to meet the criteria). --Syrthiss 13:51, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

- would like to note that I didnt apply for adminship yet so I will be removing your comment when I get around to it. Also note that my join date of wikipedia doesnt define my past experience; IE - editing newspapers before publication, or my interest in programming and HTML.

- I got confused when I saw a page suggesting you applying for adminship while I found you from Special:Contributions/newbies. Your join date of Wikipedia doesn't define your past experience, but if you ever want to apply for adminship, most voters expect at least 2000 edits and 6 months here.--Jusjih 13:10, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for voting on my RfA
Thanks so much for voting!
Thanks so much for voting on my request for adminship. I have decided to withdraw my nomination as it seems that consensus will not be reached. If you voted in support, thanks for putting your trust in me to be a good admin. If you voted in opposition, thank you as well for your constructive criticism as it will only help me be a better Wikipedian and perhaps help if/when I apply for adminship again sometime in the future. |

[edit] Your vote on my RFA
Thank you for voting on my RFA, however I've decided to withdraw my nomination. I'll perhaps nominate myself in the future once I have more experience, and not to immaturely release RFAs. Until then, I'll continue working on Wikipedia. —THIS IS MESSEDOCKER (TALK) 21:04, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Images with no source
Hi there! Just letting you know that images with no source need not be placed on WP:IFD - they can just be tagged with {{subst:nsd}} and the uploader notified. Thanks for your help! Stifle (talk) 15:47, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Highway's RfA
Thank you for supporting/objecting/tropicanising me in my request for Adminship. Although I wasn't promoted to admin status, with a final vote count of 14/27/12, I am very happy with the response I received from my fellow Wikipedians. I was pleasantly suprised at the support, and was touched by it. I will also work harder on preventing disputes and boosting my edit count (which is on the up), so thank you to all your objectors. Hopefully I will re-apply soon and try again for the mop. Thanks again, Highway Rainbow Sneakers
[edit] Fair use rationale
The template operates under the speedy criteria I6, which reads:
Missing fair-use claim. Any image tagged only with {{fairuse}} or {{Non-free fair use in}}, with no fair use rationale, may be deleted seven days after it was uploaded. Images uploaded before May 4, 2006 should not be deleted immediately; instead, the uploader should be notified that a fair-use rationale is needed. Images uploaded after May 4, 2006 can be tagged with {{subst:nrd}}, and the uploader notified with {{subst:missing rationale|Image:image name}}.
Image:Mergelogosmall.JPG was not tagged with either of those templates, therefore your use of the template was incorrect. The rationale for fair use is given in the logo template with which it is tagged, namely:
This is a logo of a corporation, sports team, or other organization, and is protected by copyright and/or trademark. It is believed that the use of low-resolution images of logos
- to illustrate the corporation, sports team, or organization in question
- on the English-language Wikipedia, hosted on servers in the United States by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation,
qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. Certain commercial use of this image may also be trademark infringement. See Wikipedia:Fair use and Wikipedia:Logos.
Looking at the image, and the article it is used in, I can't see why this does not constitute fair use. If you disagree, perhaps you would care to add to the rationale already provided? See also discussion at Wikipedia talk:Fair use#Enforcement of fair use rationales Steve block Talk 13:16, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- I'm sure you didn't mean to suggest I don't take copyright violation seriously, and I hope you also appreciate the differences in French and US law. The use of the template is incorrect per the fact that it invokes a speedy deletion clause which does noty apply in the instance you used it. I would hope you can acknowledge the fact that that image should not have been placed in a speedy deletion category, which is what you did through your action in placing that template. Steve block Talk 15:51, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
-
-
- Again, I can only point you to the speedy deletion criterion. I would therefore argue that the burden of proof is on you to show me how this meets any of the speedy deletion criteria. I do not dispute what you did and why, I only point out that you were incorrect in doing so. The template, I agree, is unclear in its wording, but I hope you agree that the speedy criteria is absolutely clear and is the final statement with regards policy. The image cannot be speedily deleted, therefore it should not be in the category, nor tagged with the template. Steve block Talk 16:47, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sukh's RFA - Thanks!
Thank you for your vote on my RfA. Unfortunately there was no consensus reached at 43 support, 18 oppose and 8 neutral. I've just found out that there is a feature in "my preferences" that forces me to use edit summaries. I've now got it enabled :) Thanks again. Sukh | ਸੁਖ | Talk 15:38, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My RFA
Thank you, Jusjih, for voting in my RFA. It closed with a final result of 75/1/0. Now that I am an administrator here, I will continue to improve this encyclopedia, using my new tools to revert vandalism, block persistent vandals, protect pages that have been vandalized intensively, and close AFD discussions. Any questions? Please contact me by adding a new section on my talk page. Again, thanks to all of you who participated!!! -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 23:13, 20 May 2006 (UTC) |

Hello. If you'll withdraw this, I'll mediate between you two. The mood on RfC is a little bit ugly right now in general, and there are better (lower level) ways to handle something like this one. - brenneman{L} 14:03, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

you said "hopefully the candidate gets better...". left vague like this, it's a personal attack. one should write, rather, "i believe that the candidate can improve in x. examples of where is failing and why... how person could have done better. Kevin Baastalk 15:13, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for your recent vote on my RFA, regardless of how you voted. I appreciate all votes. I am going to wait until I have more edits in all namespaces. Hi, could you recheck X Vietnam (album). When you nominated it for deletion, the band Quilapayún was not mentioned. But now that this info is added, and the band is notable per WP:MUSIC, perhaps you will consider the article worth keeping.--Rob 00:01, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Seeking Editor Review Commentary (If You Like)
Hi. In conjunction with my RfA (that you voted on), I have created an editor review, to give people a chance to comment as to ways in which I can branch out or alter my contributions to Wikipedia. An RfA seems to solely focus on how one's temperment and contributions relate to how they might handle administrative powers (and the consensus on that seems to be that I'm not quite ready); the editor review opens things up a little more to a larger focus, and I'd love to hear community feedback in the sense of that larger focus, too. If you feel you've already expressed yourself sufficiently when casting your vote, then by all means don't worry about it, but if any thoughts come to mind or if you'd like to expound upon any suggestions or commentary, it would be appreciated. In any case, I appreciated you taking the time to express your opinion on my RfA, and I thank you for that. — WCityMike (talk • contribs) 19:54, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hello. I have reviewed your request for editor review, but the only comments that I can think of now are that:
- As most voters now consider that a candidate for adminship should have edited at least 2000 times for 6 months, you should generally consider reapplying after you have edited 2000 times, but I think that you need not edit your editing style with regard to namespaces. Most candidates with less experience have failed, unless they have some very outstanding factors.
- Your recent edit summary usage is 85% for both major and minor edits. Please try to use summaries much more often (most successful adminship candidates have much higher usage) and consider going to "my preferences", then "Editing", and choose "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary", so should you try to save changes without an edit summary, including an accidental action, you will have a chance to add a summary.--Jusjih 13:27, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
