Just now my interest is bowed string instruments, play violin, viola, and cello up to about lullaby speed, have done so for years, decades in the case of the violin. I would be considered a neanderthal in woodworking circles, since I prefer to use hand tools without cords or batteries, though I don't object to the use of some stationary equipment such as bandsaws or belt sanders where appropriate.

Native speaker of midwestern American English, but can sometimes converse with British subjects, if they wish. I speak, read, and write rudimentary French, fragmentary Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German, Turkish, Russian, Hebrew, and Japanese, with a phrase or two of Scots Gaelic, which I enjoy hearing, but do not understand.
