[edit] Biography
Sobers was born in Belleville, New Jersey to Hollis Joseph Sobers and Ann Lois Sobers. Sobers, who has an older sister, Hollann Joli, grew up in Convent Station, New Jersey, where his parents moved to months after he was born.
[edit] Education
Justin attended Assumption School—a Catholic school located in Morristown, New Jersey—until the sixth grade. He then transferred to the public Morris School District and attended Frelinghuysen Middle School and Morristown High School. After graduating from high school in 1999, he attended Hofstra University in the Village of Hempstead, New York for one semester because his first-choice school, Berklee College of Music, did not have any on-campus housing at the time. Sobers was able to transfer to Berklee for the spring 2000 semester, but due to his less-than-stellar entry audition, he was only admitted into the diploma program—unable to declare a major unless he sustained a GPA above 3.0. Eventually, he was accepted into the degree program, declared his major, and in 2003, graduated and received his Bachelor's degree in film scoring.
