Justin Roberts writes children's music and performs with the Not Ready for Naptime Players. He often collaborates with producer-musician Liam Davis. Roberts led the band Pimentos for Gus in the 90's. With a sound that’s more akin to Fountains of Wayne than Romper Room, Roberts blends his indie-pop sensibilities with a keen understanding of the experiences of childhood. He’s been variously compared to Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe and Loudon Wainwright. Music critics from the Washington Post to Salon.com are invariably surprised at the musical sophistication and lyrical depth of the songwriting. As one magazine editor notes, “Roberts shows in every lyric that he understands what kids think about.” Publishers Weekly remarks on “the consistently infectious quality of Roberts’s hooks and refrains,” and People magazine calls the music “on-your-feet fun and laugh-out-loud funny.”
Justin and the Not Ready for Naptime Players travel the country, performing more than 200 concerts a year at venues ranging from school classrooms and community halls to major theaters and festivals.
