Just Another Pretty Face
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Just Another Pretty Face is an episode of season two of The Munsters. The episode was written by screenwriter Richard Baer.[1] Baer described Just Another Pretty Face as his personal favorite of the five scripts which he wrote for The Munsters. [1]
The episode begins Grandpa Munster down in his lab working on a new invention. Herman is told by Grampa to not go down into the dungeon. Herman's curiosity gets the better of him and he visits the dungeon. Herman turns on Grandpa's machine and is struck by the bolt of lightning that is emitted. Herman falls forward and smashes the table. The family takes off the sheets covering up Herman's "hideous face". The irony is that Herman Munster is a very handsome man without his Frankenstein-like face. Herman believes he is ugly and can't stand the thought that people stare at him. He insists on getting plastic surgery. The doctor tells him turning Herman back into his original form would be impossible. Grandpa finds some old blueprints of Herman and attempts to change Herman back. The experiment fails and Herman becomes a woman with a manly voice. Herman lives this way for a few days as the episode moves on. Herman walks out of the house and is struck by lightning. The episode ends with Herman as his regular grotesque self.
