[edit] Street Fighter Alpha 3

In the arcade version of Street Fighter Alpha 3, Juni and Juli are a pair of sub-bosses whom the player face prior to the final battle against M. Bison. The player face Juni and Juli at the same time in a two-on-one fight similar to the Dramatic Battle mode in the original Street Fighter Alpha. The two characters are unlockable in the arcade version, but they have no storyline in the actual game. The characters are actually head-swaps of Cammy (who previously appeared in Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold and X-Men vs. Street Fighter), with the explanation given that Cammy belongs to the same unit as Juni and Juli (Bison's Elite Guard). However, the characters have their own special and super techniques. There are ten other members of Bison's Elite Guard, but they don't appear as fighters in the game.

When Alpha 3 was ported to home consoles, the designers made Juni and Juli part of the default roster and gave both characters their individual storylines and endings, with Juni assigned to track down Ryu and Juli assigned to track down Cammy. Juli's history is also fleshed out in the home versions, with the addition of T. Hawk to the cast. In T. Hawk's storyline, he searches for a missing girl from the Thunderfoot tribe named Julia. Julia is revealed to have become Juli, who was kidnapped by Shadaloo and brainwashed into an assassin.[1] The designers of the home versions originally intended for Noembelu (a non-playable member of the Dolls) to be girl that T. Hawk searches, but Juli was used for this role instead.

[edit] Other games

Juli and Juni appears in the crossover game Namco x Capcom released only in Japan. In this game, Juli almost regains her memory by saying, "I am... Juli... a... Hawk?" right before her demise due to the full effect of her mind control.

[edit] Backstory

All of the Dolls were teenage girls of around 16 years old who were captured by Shadaloo and brainwashed to be M. Bison's assassins and bodyguards. Cammy was a female clone of Bison, but was the same age and acted the same way the others, though it was later revealed that she could control the Psycho Drive. They were completely loyal to Bison and acted and talked like robots. Originally the Dolls could not live if Bison had died. The brainwashing corrupted them so much they would have collapsed and died. They were high ranking members in Shadaloo, only lower than Bison and the other Grand Masters: Balrog, Vega and Sagat. Eventually, Cammy broke free from Bison's mind control (apparently with help from Dhalsim) and managed to do the same for the others. When Bison appeared, they collectively attacked him. Bison informed Cammy that she was his clone, and that if he died, she and the other Dolls would die as well. Cammy fought against his psychic probing and rescued the Dolls from Bison's control with the Psycho Drive. Cammy led the Dolls out the Shadaloo base and then fell unconscious, rendering the Dolls in a state of amnesia. Cammy was later found by Vega and taken to the Delta Red H.Q. by him. It is unknown if the other Dolls survived or regained their memories.

[edit] The other Dolls

The Dolls are named after the months of the year, in their home country's language. Enero (January), Février (February), März (March), Aprile (April), Satsuki (May), Juni (June), Juli (July), Santamu (August), Jianyu (September), Xiayu (October), Noviembre (November) and Decapre (December).

  • Enero (エーネロ Ēnero?) - Originally from Spain, she specializes in communications carrying a microphone with her.
  • Février (フェブリエ Feburie?) - Originally from France, she specializes in using firearms.
  • März (メルツ Merutsu?) - Originally from Germany, she specializes in information and recon using her laptop.
  • Aprile (アプリーレ Apurīre?) - Originally from Italy, she specializes in skills as a medic. She has a younger brother named Maggio (マッジオ Majjio?).[1]
  • Satsuki (サツキ Satsuki?) - Originally from Japan, she specializes in swordfighting. Her name is the archaic Japanese name of May.
  • Santamu (サンタム?) - Originally from Vietnam, she specializes in spear fighting and is accompanied by a Golden Lion Tamarin monkey. Her name is derived from the Vietnamese word for August, Tháng Tám.
  • Jianyu (ヤンユー Yanyū?) - Originally from China, she specializes in using a quarterstaff. Her name is derived from Jiuyue' (九月).
  • Xiayu (ジウユー Jiuyū?) - Originally from China, she specializes in using nunchaku. Her name is derived from Shiyue' (十月).
  • Noembelu (ノウェンベル Nowenberu?) - Originally from Mexico, she specializes in fighting with twin hatchets.
  • Decapre (ディカープリ Dikāpuri?, Декапре) - Originally from Russia, her appearance resembles Cammy with a black mask. Like Vega, Decapre uses claws in hand-to-hand combat, except shorter and in both hands. Her name is derived Dekabr' (декабрь).

[edit] The UDON comic

In the UDON comic, Noembelu and Juli are both being sought after by T. Hawk. Noembelu is a member of the Thunderfoot Tribe whose family is close to T. Hawk. Juli is the daughter of a German doctor who provided care for the Thunderfoot Tribe. The doctor was found murdered and Juli disappeared. According to T. Hawk, Noembelu's name is Little Eagle. As for Juni she was kidnapped directly from Germany. Supposedly her brainwashing is the most complete of all the Dolls and her first mission, ordered by Bison to test her loyalty, is to murder her own family. She accomplished her mission flawlessly.

Xiayu and Yanyu are depicted as Triad assassins who attempt to assassinate Fei Long and Chun-Li.

In addition, it is also revealed how similar Decapre is to Cammy in the comic. Supposedly, Decapre was a test subject of sorts to perfect the procedure to bring about Cammy's creation. As a result, Decapre fights as Cammy did when she was "Killer Bee", as Cammy notes when she engages Decapre in a fight at Shadaloo headquarters. In the comic, neither Cammy nor Decapre are given any nation of origin. This is likely in part due to the fact that both are creations of Shadaloo and both were inteded to be vessels for Bison's consciousness. Since Decapre is apparently a failed attempt at this process, the reason she wears the mask - at least in the comic - is because the left side of her face looks as if it has been severely burned.
