[edit] Geography
Geographically, Junebug is in the center of the fictional county Bugg County, the "smallest county in Oklahoma." Bugg County is 200 square miles (520 square kilometres), and is bound by natural borders on all four sides: the Red River on the south; an outcrop of granite mountains on the east that run from the Red River 20 miles (32 km) northward; the North Fork of the Red River on the north, which runs ten miles (16 km); and a tributary of the North Fork of the Red River is Buttermilk Creek, which serves as the western boundary. Buttermilk Creek runs 20 miles (32 km) south and empties into the Red River.
The granite mountains that serve as the eastern boundary are called the Glass Mountains, not to be confused with the real Glass Mountains which are located in northern Oklahoma. On the east side of these fictional mountains is Jackson County, Oklahoma whose county seat is Altus, Oklahoma. Across Buttermilk Creek Bridge one enters Harmon County, Oklahoma, whose county seat is Hollis, Oklahoma. Both Jackson and Harmon are real counties located in the south-western region of Oklahoma.
