June deportation

June deportation (Estonian: Juuniküüditamine, Lithuanian: Birželio trėmimai, Latvian: Jūnija deportācijas) is the commonly used name for a Soviet Union's wave of deporting tens of thousands of people from the Baltic states, Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova starting June 14, 1941. Men were generally imprisoned and most of them died in Siberian prison camps (see Gulag); women and children were resettled in Kirov oblast and Novosibirsk oblast (also see Gulag) and about a half of them eventually survived.
