"Jump (For My Love)" was the opening track (and third single) of the Pointer Sisters' 1983 album, Break Out.

Released prior to the 1984 Summer Olympics games, the song's video featured footage of athletes competing in track and field events. The song was the second of four Billboard Hot 100 top 10 singles in a row for the sisters in 1984; it peaked at #3 in July. It also appeared on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart and was reached the Top 10 in the UK, peaking at number six.

The song netted the group a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal in 1985.

In 2003, this recording was used in the movie Love Actually.

Info "Jump (for My Love)" (help·info)

In 2003, Girls Aloud covered "Jump" for the soundtrack to the film Love Actually. The track was released prior to the re-release of the platinum-selling album Sound of the Underground. It was also included on 2004's What Will The Neighbours Say?.

[edit] Release and reception

"Jump" was released on November 17, 2003. The single's formats featured two album tracks from Sound of the Underground, as well as a cover of the theme song from Grease (from ITV's Grease Mania).

Girls Aloud's version of "Jump" was not featured in Love Actually itself. The film uses the Pointer Sisters' original version due to American audiences being unaware of Girls Aloud, who feature in the end credits. Girls Aloud do, however, appear on the British soundtrack.

The video for "Jump" was made to appear like it was intertwined with the film Love Actually. There is a version of the video without scenes from the movie that can be found on the girls' DVD, Girls On Film.

A Hugh Grant look-alike was hired, and the premise of the video was that the members of the band were sneaking around the residence of the Prime Minister.

Both group and individual shots were used as the band members progressed from sneaking in a bedroom window to going down a set of stairs to entering a conference room to finally re-exiting through the window.
