[edit] History

The members of Jumbling Towers formed as the band Dorian Gray while in high school at Westminster Christian Academy in 2003. This group broke up when the members went off to college in fall of 2003.

Jumbling Towers was formed in fall of 2005 in Columbia, Missouri. Shortly afterwards the band moved to St. Louis, Missouri. The band is based on the unique vocal styling of lead singer Joe DeBoer and distinct keyboard tones, layered with bass, guitar, and drums.

In 2007 the band released their self-titled debut CD. The disc contains ten songs. Later in the year the band had the CD re-mixed and re-mastered, lowering vocals and increasing the drum volume, and also added an 11th track titled "Indian Slaughter." The second version of the CD did not come wrapped in plastic because, instead of buying new cases, the band simply placed the new CD into the cases from the first version to cut costs.

Additionally, the second version of the CD contains info from the original release, so the track "Indian Slaughter" could be considered a hidden track.

The debut CD of Jumbling Towers reached #99 on the CMJ New Music Report charts in September 2007. When the album hit #99, Jumbling Towers was the highest ranked unsigned artist on the CMJ charts.

In late 2007 the band headed to a recording studio to record an EP, containing songs yet to be named. The new EP, titled "Classy Entertainment," is expected to be released June 1st, 2008. Tracks are: Classy Entertainment, Apartments, Sal, Jeer, Fortune, and Gamble.

The band has played at several notable music festivals, including The Lot, CMJ Music Marathon, Pygmalion Music Festival, and the OK Electric Festival.

On Thursday, February 28th, 2008, drummer Scott Ingram played his last show as a member of Jumbling Towers at The Gargoyle on Washington University's campus as part of the KWUR 90.3 Showcase. Ingram left the band to attend Columbia College in Chicago, IL.

The drummer that replaced Scott Ingram in 2008 is Louis Wall. His first show with the band was on March 12th, 2008 at The Bluebird, a rock music venue in St. Louis. During the concert, singer Joe DeBoer commended Louis for his performance after having had just one practice with the band.
